Thick Clear
Acetates and Acrylic Sheets

Transparent Mini-Album
with Thick Acetates created by Andrée-Anne F.

"Picture Frames"
in Acrylic by Christiane D.
They are
sooooo hot right now in scrapbooking!
We call them
"acetate" or "acrylic",
but in fact they are PETG sheets (poly
ethylene),
the same plastic used to make Pepsi bottles,
except much thicker. It's a choc resistant
material, acid free, super clear, that is
really fun to work with. All PETG sheets
that we offer are covered by a thin
protective backing paper on both sides
that you must remove before decorating - you
will receive your sheets without scratches
or fingerprints!
-
Real Thick Acetates:
Great to make clear mini albums! You can also easily
cut with scissors any homemade embellishment!
-
Acrylic: Ideal to
make a picture frame - use the acrylic as "background
paper" and create your layout on that base... No need
to put project behind a glass afterwards, the sheet is
rigid enough to hold well on an easel. You can
hang your creation to the wall or in a window with
pretty ribbons (make a hole in the acrylic sheet with
a Crop-a-dile and add eyelets if you want!). However,
this material is more difficult to cut; you must use a
craft knife and metal ruler and go over the same line
many times.
To glue papers
and photos on the PETG sheets, we suggest a
real "sticky"
double-sided adhesive tape.
Glue
Dots work well for dimensional
embellishments. To write permanently on your
transparent projects, you can use the
Peel Off
Markers, the
Zig Photo
Signature Pens or the
IDenty Pens by Sakura. For inking, only the
solvent ink Staz On
will dry permanently on such a surface.
Acrylic
Paint goes real well, although not 100%
permanent (if you scratch hard with your
nail, paint will chip). You can also use the
Alcohol Inks by Tim Holtz,
as well as any
Rub-on or
Peel Off
Sticker... Go for it; offer the magic of
transparency for Christmas - and mostly,
have fun in the process!
